Marva Brooks

Marva Jo Brooks age 79 was born on July 5, 1937 in Cleveland, Tennessee. She was the fourth of the six children.
Marva Jo departed this life on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at a Chattanooga, Tennessee hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents Thelma S. Lane, William Shelton Lane Sr. husband Walter Brooks, brother William Shelton Lane Jr., and sister Iva Pearl Sawyer.
Marva and her family have a long church history with Trinity United Methodist Church in Cleveland, Tennessee. She graduated from College Hill High School in 1956 and went on to Tennessee State University earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Education in 1964. She was a devoted and beloved teacher in Bradley County Public Schools for over 29 years, positively impacting generations of young lives. Marva Jo was also a dedicated, active member of the Tau Eta Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
She leaves to cherish her memories: (3) brothers: Malchus L. Lane of Hendersonville, Tennessee; Dr. Cornell D. Lane of Nashville, Tennessee; and Tony V. Lane of Antioch, Tennessee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 11, 2016 at 12:00 noon at Trinity United Methodist Church with pastor Rev. Marvin Howard delivering the eulogy and Dr. Rev. Harry Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, and on Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 5:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home & Cremation Service – Cleveland, Tn.
