Theodore Lewis Mcclendon

Theodore Louis McClendon age 79 departed this life September 3, 2016 at a Sweetwater health care facility. He was the son of the late Oscar and Georgia Bell McClendon, and is also preceded in death by special Aunt Lillian Morris, sister Janet McClendon and brother Charles McClendon.

He professed his faith in Christ at an early age and joined Park City Church of God Sanctified in Madisonville, Tn. and later attended St. Peter Primitive Baptist Church in Alcoa, Tn.

He studied at Morristown College and Knoxville College. He began his employment out of college helping others by working at Taft Youth Center in Pikeville, Tn. He was employed and retired after 34 years at Y-12, ‘Union Carbide’ in Oak Ridge, Tn. He was well known with all the restaurant owners in Madisonville, because of his frequent dining with all of the eateries in the area. He enjoyed sports and taking in any basketball and football game, also enjoyed traveling.

He leaves to cherish his memories, two brothers, James ‘J.L.’ (Noreen) McClendon of Knoxville, TN, and Lawrence ‘Eddie’ McClendon of Spring City, Tn. Fiancé Phyllis Anthony, Alcoa, TN. Sister-in-law, Joyce McClendon of Knoxville, Tn., and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at First United Church of Christ in Sweetwater, Tn. with Rev. Archie Smart officiating and Rev. James Guthrie Sr. delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Park City Cemetery in Madisonville, Tn. Services of loving memory entrusted to M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home & Cremation Service LLC- Athens, Tn.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in honor of Theordore L. McClendon to the American Kidney Foundation.
