Joseph F. Anthony

Joseph Felix “Pop” Anthony age 65 of Etowah, Tn. passed Wednesday morning July 6, 2016 in a local hospital. He was a member of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church, where he served in the male chorus, and on the trustee board. He served his country in the the United States Army. He was an avid fisherman, and a well-known vocalist, singing with the group True Spirits. He was formerly employed with Bowater Corp.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Corene Anthony, one son Vince Anthony, one grandson, Jalaan Carlock, and a brother, Bobby Anthony.
Survivors include his wife Judy Anthony of Etowah, Tn., three sons, Tyrone Anthony, Jamal (Sydni) Anthony all of Etowah, Tn., and John (Kathy) Carlock of Cleveland, Tn. Four daughters, Tamra(Tyrone) Jenkins of Athens, Tn., Karla(James) Benn of Chattanooga, Tn., Charity (Kaylan) Harris of Athens, Tn., and Janesha Anthony of Etowah, Tn. Seven grandchildren, Kylin Scruggs, Tyquisha Jenkins, Teairra Jenkins, Kordell Benn, Tyrone Jenkins Jr., Grayson Harris, Kendra Benn. Two sisters, Gloria Anthony and Rhoda Anthony both of Charleston, Tn. One brother, Jesse (Donna) Anthony of Louisville, Ky., many other relatives and friends,

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church with Rev. Angela Billingsley and Rev. Joe Moore officiating. The family will receive friends thirty minutes before the service at the church from1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at New Zion Cemetery in Etowah, Tn. with military honors.
