Gertrude McDowell Branner age 101, born November 15, 1914 in Georgetown, Tn. to the late Ressie and Sherman McDowell died Tuesday, April 5, 2016 in Hamilton, Ohio.
She was the sister of the late Annie Lee, Panz, Bryant, and M.L. McDowell.
She was a dedicated member of New Hope Baptist Church in Hamilton, Ohio, with the Rev. Marcus Brown as her Pastor. She served on the usher board there for 30 plus years. She was a true Bible scholar and a very strong and independent Christian woman. She attended Langston High School in Johnson City, Tn., and Rogers College in Rogersville, Tn. She was employed as a dietary chef at Fort Hamilton Memorial Medical Center for nine years and Schoulde Manor where she retired. She also retired from the Senior Citizen and Forest Center in Hamilton, Ohio.
In 1953 she gave her hand in marriage to Walter Branner, who also precedes her in death, they had no children to their union.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her great-nephews, Raymond(Charlotte) Scott, Randall(Maxine) Scott, Paul Perkins Jr., all of Cleveland, Tn., Roderick(Phyllis) Scott of Kapolei, Hi., and Chris Washington of Hamilton, Ohio. Her great-nieces, Gayle Scott of Dallas, Tx, and Delois Perkins of Louisville, Ky and a host of other great, great, great nieces, and nephews, cousins and friends. A special couple, Hope and Brandon Burns, and her special song bird, Sonya Paulette Pugh.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 11, 2016 at 12:00 noon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Cleveland, Tn. with pastor Rev. Edward S. Robinson delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends thirty before the service at the church. Interment will follow at the St. Elmo Cemetery in Georgetown, Tn.
