Joe Dennis Mack

Joe Dennis Mack 83 of Athens, passed Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at his home. He was a member of St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church, Athens, where he was a trustee board, and on the steward board, for many years, and regularly attended Sunday school. He was employed by Bowater Southern for forty-three years, and was well known by many in the area as the ‘Cadillac of Painters’.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Callie Mack, and son Dennis Mack, and one sister Ruby Hines.

Survivors include his wife Ricka Ann Mack of Athens, Tn., two daughters, Alma Rasar and Mary Mack both of Douglasville, Ga. Two sons, Alan Mack of Bronx, NY, Tracy Mack of California. Two step-daughters, Wanda Mack Young of Ypsilanti, Mi.,and Deborah Temple of Detriot, Mi. Two step-sons, Monty Stovall and Shi (Beth) Stovall all of Athens, Tn. Two sisters, Barbara Dunn of Charleston, Tn., and Diane (Rickey) Lewis of Woodstock, Ga. One brother, Rev. Charlie (Alina) Mack of Athens, Tn. Four grandchildren, Denisha Parker, and Tashena Harris both of Cleveland, Ohio, Sante’ Mack of Athens, Tn., and Dustin Mack of Maryetta, Ga. Eight great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren. Special friends, Evelyn Armstrong, Letha Roberts, many other relatives and friends

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 11, 2015 at 12:00 noon at St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church, Athens, Tn., with pastor, Rev. Roxanne Sherles officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Sunday. Interment will follow at McMinn Memory Garden.Visitation by friends will begin after 12:00 noon on Saturday at M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home- Athens, Tn.
