Hubert B. Armstrong, age 80 passed Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tn. He was born in Etowah, Tn., and was a 1953 graduate of Cook High School where he was an outstanding basketball and football player. He worked over 30 years as a supervisor at Steel Case Mfg in Grand Rapids, Mi.

He accepted Christ at an early age and upon retiring from Michigan he settled in Ooltewah, Tn., where he was a member of St. Peter Baptist Church, and served as a deacon. He was a member of the Boaz Masonic Lodge of Athens, Tn., and an avid golfer. Hubert never met a stranger. He was soft spoken, kind and considerate to all he came in contact with.

He is preceded in death by his parents John and Wayne Armstrong and ten brothers and sisters, Gladys Reasonover, Lillie Reeves, Helen Stovall, Naomi Carson, Floy Porter, Bertha Parris, Harry Armstrong, George Armstrong, John Walter Armstrong, and Calvin Armstrong

Loving memories are shared by his wife of 36 years Sheila Armstrong of Ooltewah, Tn, four children, Hubert (Heather) Armstrong Jr. of Ooltewah, Tn., Michael Armstrong of Cleveland, Tn, Teri Lynn Armstrong of Grand Rapids, Mi, and Phyllis Cunningham of Columbus, Ohio. Two sisters, Phoebe Smith of Detroit, Mi., and Olivia Smith of Knoxville, Tn.

A host of nieces and nephews, great nieces, and great nephews and many cousins and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Chattanooga, Tn. with pastor, Rev. Keith Jones officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Services of loving memory entrusted to M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home- Cleveland, Tn.
