James Steven McCowan age 45 of Greenwood South Carolina passed away on Monday July 20, 2015. He was a graduate of Putnam Vocational high School in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was employed for over 16 years as a fiber optic worker employed with Prism Fiber Optic in Greenwood S.C. He spent many hours outside working on cars he collected. He also found joy playing with his
children, and spoiling his nieces and nephews. He collected movies and loved watching old black and white classic movies “Bennie Hill”. His smile and his laughter was like magic, it made you happy even after a hard day. He always found the positive in everything when you were going through hard times. Starting the sentence off with “what if”… He developed a strong relationship with Christ and was saved and baptized. He worshipped with Pray and Faith Ministries Church of God in Christ in Greenwood South Carolina.

Sister’s Dona Kenney (Julius) of Springfield, Massachusetts; Elisha Mack of Greenwood S.C., and Marcelina Jackson (Leroy), Greenwood, S.C. Step brothers; Ronald and Shawn Upton, both of Tennessee; Anthony Lewis of Florida and step sister Victoria Lewis of Atlanta, Ga., Nieces, Darlene Williamson, Lakeisha Curry, Tiffany Manuel, Jerica Gayton, LaTricia Anderson, and Jemila Mack. Dondrell Jackson, Michellee Lewis, Ikeanai Jackson and Katarina Jackson Nephews: Eric Chase Jr., Christian Gossett, Marshall Sanders and Kai-ree Mack.. Aunts, Grace Browser, Helen Bailey, and Olethia Bradley, and uncles Murriel Bradley, Jerry Bradley, and Gene Bradley, Three great aunts, and three great uncles, many other cousins and friends.
Home going services will be held Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home- Athens, Tn. with Rev. Caggie Scruggs officiating. Interment will follow at Moore Cemetery in Niota, Tn. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
