Sammie Retta Craigmiles

Sammie Retta Craigmiles Thompson age 85 of Cleveland, Tn., a faithful servant of God went home to be with the Lord, Monday June 1, 2015.
She attended College Hill School in Bradley county and Cleveland, Tn. , and worked for many years for the families of Dr. Robert and Sterling Allen. , Dr. Elizabeth Daubner, Cathy Allen, and Debbie Allen Fein. She was a member of Price Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church. Sammie was known for her good cooking, and she enjoyed fishing and dancing and her special love was her family. She will be fondly remembered for her heartfelt laugh and a smile that could win anyone’s heart.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Sam and Louise Craigmiles, grandparents, James and Catherine Bearden Whaley, daughter, Jacqueline Thompson Humes, sisters, Catherine Craigmiles, Christine Taylor, and Shirley Aleen Craigmiles, brother John Craigmiles, uncles, Cleo, Frank, Lewis, Leland, Edward L., and Jack Whaley. Aunts, Blanch Cobb, Edna Whaley Pugh, and Laura ‘Tootie’ Whaley. Devoted cousins, Ed Lee Whaley, Doris Rae Blair, Harry Craigmiles, and Jimmy Pugh.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Vetta Thompson Ware (Wayne) Stovall of Cleveland, Tn. Three grandson, Craig (Malerie) Thompson of Chattanooga, Tn., Milo Ware Jr. of Alexandria, Va. and Dishon Humes of Cleveland, Tn. Five grandchildren, Craig Thompson, Monica Thompson, Makya Humes, Jakya Humes, Gage Humes, one great-granddaughter, Nakyah Thomspon. Brother, Fred (Helen) Craigmiles of Chicago, Ill. Sisters, Wilma Blair, and Rebecca Ann (Richard) Powell all of Cleveland, Tn. A host of nieces, nephews, special nephews, James’Jib’ Taylor and Michael(Barbara Ann) Sharp, cousins , friends and special friends, Carolyn Spencer, and Betty Person, Alphonso Tillery., special cousins, Lillian Thompson, and Carl Whaley both of Cleveland, Tn.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 7, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in chapel of M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home-Cleveland, Tn. with Rev. Rhonda Westfield and Bishop G.R. Hill officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Interment will follow at Fort Hill cemetery. Visitation by friends will begin after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
