Elizabeth Armstrong Moss

ELIZABETH ARMSTRONG (PUNCH) MOSS, age 81, made her heavenly transition on Thursday morning, May 7, 2015 at University of Tennessee Hospital, Knoxville. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Donnie Mae Armstrong. She was also preceded in death by her son, Tommy Moss, sisters, Annie Mae Boyd and Charlene Scruggs, sister-in-law Mattie King and grandson Jaran Moss.

She was a member of Mount Olive AME Zion Church of Etowah,TN and a loving wife, mother, and “granny” to her very large family whom she loved dearly. She was a gardener and a great cook. During the days of unorganized fast pitch softball she was the “go to” pitcher for a sure win!

She leaves to rejoice in her passing her loving and faithful husband of 60 years, Billy R. Moss, her loving, caring, and ever faithful children, Jan Charles (Audrea) Armstrong, Alan Armstrong, Billy (Lucille) Moss, Earl (Sherri) Moss, Mary Moss, Anthony (Sonya) Moss, John (Rhonda) Moss, Stephanie (T.O.) Carter, and daughter-in-law, Lisa Moss. Seventeen Grandchildren: Dawn (Eustace) Perkins, Kenisha Moss, D. J. Moss, Tanya Moss, Chad (Lacey) Armstrong, Star (Tiffany) Armstrong, Josh Moss, Quinn Moss, Tamara Moss, Kimberley Smith, Yasmine Carter, Jasone Moss, Mario Smith, Whitney (Travis) Sanders, Adrienne (Cash) Hannah and Dillon Williams. Brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Rosalee Armstrong; sisters: Louise Carden, Mary Nell Douglas, Rosalee Colbert, Christine Lowary, and sisters-in-law Rebecca Cullom and Johnnie Mae Smith.

She is also survived by twenty-three greatest grandchildren and a host of close nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many family and friends and special friend, Austin Tate.

Homegoing services to be held Sunday, 3:00 p.m., May 10, 2015 at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church with Pastor Rev. Joe Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Visitation by friends will begin after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday May 9, 2015 at M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home & Cremation Service- Athens, Tn.
