John Lindsey

John “Daddy John” Wiley Lindsey age 87 was born on December 25, 1927 in Acworth, GA.

He went home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2015 in a local hospital. He is also preceded in death by his parents, the late Essie and Jesse Lindsey; son, Ronald Lindsey Sr.; son-in-law, Rickey Horton Sr.; son-in-law, Mark McCoy and granddaughter, Atiya Lindsey.

In the early 1950s, he moved from Acworth, GA to Cleveland, TN where he married Delores Cansler in 1952. They were married for 62 years. Daddy John was a great family man and a loving and supportive father to 14 children. He was a member of the Church of God Sanctified of Cleveland, Tn, and was employed by Cleveland Foundry for many years and then began his career in the automobile industry with a dear friend/supervisor, J.T. Haun, from which he later retired. He was a good-spirited, respected, devoted, spiritual and hardworking individual who was such a joy to be around. From telling jokes and sharing laughter and making cherishable memories, he always made a lasting impression on everyone he came in contact with.

He leaves to cherish his sweet memories, his wife of 62 years, Delores Jean Lindsey; five sons, John Lindsey of Cleveland, Carl Lindsey of Atlanta, Charles Lindsey of Cleveland, Patrick Lindsey of Cleveland and Tyrone Lindsey of Atlanta; eight daughters, Sandra Horton of Cleveland, Sharon (David Sr.) Piersaul of Cleveland, Janice McCutchins of Cleveland, Linda (Zell) Fields of Cleveland, Valerie McCoy of Cleveland, Alba (Kimani) Marshall of Cleveland, Joyce( Antonio )Taylor and Patricia Lindsey; thirty-eight grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and other relatives. He also had several special friends, Simon Ware, Joe Francis, Euca Jones, Stoney Sharp, Ms. Carolyn Valdez and Donna Kaye Kennedy; caregiver, Joyce Taylor (daughter).
