Jocelyn Leandra Wright, age 47 of Chattanooga, TN passed Monday evening, July 28, 2014 at her home. She was a devoted member of St. James Cumberland Presbyterian Church of America in Cleveland, TN. Joy was a 1985 graduate of Cleveland High School and The University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Joy worked in the media industry for more than 20 years. She started her career after graduating from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a degree in Communication and Media Studies. Her first passion was radio. She worked for US-101, then WJTT Power 94 as Account Executive/Team Leader until 2005. After that, Joy began her career at WRCB-TV as Account Executive. In 2010, she was promoted to National Sales Manager. In May of this year, Joy was honored with The American Advertising Federation of Chattanooga (AAF Chattanooga) most prestigious lifetime achievement award, the 2014 Silver Medal.

Throughout her career, Joy sewed seeds and gave back to her community through various volunteer capacities with American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Blood Assurance, Chattanooga Advertising Federation, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Festival of Cultures, Gospel Explosion and Keep America Beautiful.



She was preceded in death by her husband of 14 years, Rodney Wright, grandparents Doris Jarrett, Samuel Jarrett, Sr. and Jesse White, Sr., great-grandmother, Glennis Cox and uncles Therris White, Edward Kennedy, Rodney Kennedy, Sr., and Samuel Jarrett, Jr.

Survivors include one daughter, Bianca Perkins of Chattanooga, TN. Her parents, Regenia and Erskine Piersaul, Jesse White of Cleveland, TN. One brother, Demetrius Ramsey of Cleveland, TN. Six sisters, Kala Falker of Atlanta, GA, Ebony White, Jessica White, and Toya Cobb all of Chattanooga, TN, and DeKesha (Antonio) Hill and Jackee Evans of Cleveland, TN. Two brothers-in-law, Darryl (Gina) Griffin Sr. of Chattanooga, TN, and John Paul Johnson Jr. of Chattanooga, TN. Three sisters-in-law Sonja Griffin of Cleveland, Ohio, Kimberly (Patrick) Brewer of Chattanooga, TN, and Sabrina (David) Cotton of Cleveland, Ohio. Mother-in-law, Mozella (James) Paris of Chattanooga, TN. Grandmother, Edna White of Cleveland, TN, special uncle, John Jarrett and special aunt, Verona Bazel both of Cleveland, TN. She also leaves to mourn her death a host of special aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.
