George Liggett

George Liggett, age 81, a lifelong resident of Decatur, Tn. passed Sunday morning July 20, 2014 at a local Athens hospital.
Until his death, he was an active member of Burketts Chapel United Methodist Church, Decatur, Tn.,serving as chairman of the trustee board, and very instrumental in seeing the development of the church fellowship hall.
George attended elementary school at Burketts Chapel and graduated from Booker T. Washington School in Chattanooga, Tn. He was employed by Bowater and worked there for forty-two years. He loved gardening, farming and especially spending time with his family and being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Will and Gertrude Liggett, sisters, Arizona Clark and Lucille Lewis, brothers, James Henry, Harvey, and Willie Liggett.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 58 years Clydean Rucker Liggett, two loving daughters, Brenda(Rev. Kevin) Harris, and Regina(Steve) Wilkerson. Grandchildren, Nacole(Brian) Massengill, Theandray(Amanda) Harris, Laveisha Scotton, Christa(Alex) Porte, Erica Beck, great grandchildren, Taeven, Mekhi and Alana, Leighaja, Azarias, Sy, and Epic.
