Charles Leonard ‘CL’ Billingsley, age 86 went home to be with the Lord early Sunday morning July 6, 2014.
He was a lifelong resident of Sweetwater, Tn., and a retired U.S. Army Sargent serving his country in the Korean and Vietnam War.
He was a member of North Point Presbyterian Church in Sweetwater, Tn., where he was a deacon, and served on the finance committee as the assistant treasurer.
He was a strong supporter of church programs.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Betty Billingsley, six brothers, Condon, George Jr., Wilford, Elbert, Ernest and Joseph Hoyt Billingsley, one sister Malchia Billingsley Sharp, one son Charles Billingsley Jr., wives, Mary Farris Billingsley, and Ernestine Asbury Billingsley.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife Joan Arnwine Billingsley of Sweetwater, Tn. Two daughters, Vicki Lynn Billingsley and Linda Jean Walton both of Ind., IN. Three step-daughters, Locita(Corey) Garrett, Tonya (Clifford) King all of Athens, Tn., and Tracy Armstrong of Etowah, Tn., and one step-son Travis Armstrong of Louisville, Ky. A host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
